Premature Age Spots On MacBooks

by Alistair Phillips on July 1, 2006

Macbook DiscolourationApple products are know for their aesthetic appeal and are usually meant to stand the test of time.  Unfortunately for some MacBook owners the wrist rests of the notebooks are starting to show some horrible stain.

I’m sitting here typing this on my 12″ iBook G4 and yes, it has shownsome marks on the wrist rests.  But that’s more due to my grubby paws than anything else.  The same however cannot be said for the MacBook notebooks that users are buying.

Consumers have been making use of the Apple forums to voice their opinion but that did not last long.  Apple, it seems, have decided that they don’t want to hear anything more on this topic and as such have locked the offending forum post thereby preventing users from adding to the horror stories.

Frustrated user Jose Munoz-Olaya has set up a web site allowing users to voice their opinions in an unmoderated forum.  Many people are quite annoyed at how early adopters are being “penalized” by Apple for purchasing products within the first few weeks of their release.

Unfortunately these complaints are all too familiar and one can’t help but think about the problems with the iPod Nano screens.  Are you affected by such a product problem or do you know of anyone else?  Let us know when you bought your Apple product and what you’re going to do about it.
