Yesterday, we have heard that the ITC – International Trade Commission had ruled that Microsoft’s Xbox violates some Motorola’s patents, and it seems that it is Apple’s turn now, as the ITC has ruled that some iOS devices violate Motorola’s patents.

As per the ruling, both Apple’s iPhone and iPad violate Motorola patents which is related to WiFi, although the judge did find that the devices did not violate 3 other patents owned by Motorola. This is just a preliminary ruling by ITC and the next step is for the ruling to be reviewed by ITC judges.

The Sparrow Mail application for iOS which was launched a month ago for iPhone, has received a new update taking it to version 1.1. The updated version now comes with a new built-in web browser, show/hide dock badge per account option, send & archive, empty trash & empty spam, & only show specific labels & folders. It also comes with fixes fors issues some users have experienced and reported while authenticating with some Google apps account, as well as an issue with custom SMTP for alias.

The development team are wasting no time on update their new iPhone mail application and say that updates will “evolve fast and integrate feature requests and bug fixes” just like the Mac application did when it was released.

With regards Push functionality for Sparrow Mail, here is an update from the Sparrow team:

“Thanks to your amazing support, we feel confident that Apple might revise its position on the Push API. We’ll submit a first version of Sparrow 1.2 including it. This might delay Sparrow 1.2 validation but we’re already working with some partners to include Push in future versions of Sparrow without needing Apple clearance.”

Shazam has been updated this week and it is now version 5.0. Shazam is a popular music identification app that makes use of your smartphones’ microphones to gather a snippet of music being played. Then, it will create an acoustic fingerprint based on the sample, which is then compared against the central database for a song match.
The app can now recognise a song and tell you what it is, in just a second or even less than a second. Other features include, a redesigned UI, and it now allows users to comment to tags and share on either Twitter or Facebook.

The Shazam 5.0 is now available as a free Shazam app and as a Shazam Encore and (RED), both $6. Alex Musil, EVP Product for Shazam explains:

Apple released the iPhone 4S last year of October which is kind of late since Apple normally releases their iPhone devices in June or July. This year, many are expecting that Apple will stick to the one year schedule of releasing their new iPhone, which would mean that there’s a possibility that the iPhone 5 will launch in around September or October of this year. Cool huh? According to a parking lot attendant at a Foxconn factory who told a Tokyo TV news crew,  they were hiring new staff for the iPhone 5 launch in June. Is this something to hold on to? For me, it’s best to wait maybe until September or better yet ’till October to see the iPhone 5 or new iPhone.

We have featured many iPhone accessories here in MyMacBookPro, and the ODOC iPhone dock is the latest. It is a concept over on the Kick-starter website, which looks to raise enough money to help it into production. It is an iPhone and iPod docking station, that has the ability to change the angle of your device by twisting the dock. Just perfect for Facetime or Skype calls. It has been conceived by Richard Singer an independent designer from Silicon Valley. He explains a little more about what makes his iPhone dock stand out from the crowd.

“ODOC is a minimal, timeless design that cues user intuition. Simply twist ODOC’s cylindrical form to set the perfect angle for viewing and using the iPhone’s touchscreen display. Looks like RIM is having a tough time at the moment, and as of the moment Apple has already shipped more devices in Canada – RIM’s home country for the first time. As per a recent report in 2011 RIM has shipped 2.08 million BlackBerry smartphones, and this compares to 2.85 million smartphones shipped by Apple for the same period. It’s actually the 1st time that Apple has sold more devices in Canada than RIM. Last 2010, RIM has sold 500,000 more smartphones than Apple, and in 2008 RIM sold 5x more smartphones that Apple.

We have been heard lots of rumors about Apple who is working on a 4G LTE iPhone. With the recent release of the new iPad that comes with 4G LTE, a lot are expecting that the next iPhone will support 4G. According to the guys over at iDownloadBlog, information about a 4G enabled iPhone have been discovered in iOS 5.1. These references to 4G for the iPhone were not present in the previous build of iOS, which was version 5.0.1, and they have only been added in iOS 5.1. Apple is said to be launching a 4G LTE enabled iPad, and we suspect we will see a 4G LTE enabled iPhone later this year.

Rovio’s latest Angry Birds saga installment is now available for all iOS devices, along with  Google’s Android devices, PC and Mac. This new game, Angry Birds Space features new characters and a new physics engine, and new game play. The iPhone and iPod Touch version of the game costs $0.99, while the HD iPad version costs for $2.99 over at iTunes.
