Even it gets smaller being a 13” MacBook, notebooks do not get better than this. It has up to 2x faster processors and 2x faster graphics. The 13-inch MacBook Pro now features a 2.4GHz Intel Core i5 processor or the fastest dual-core processor available — the 2.8GHz Intel Core i7. With Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.5GHz, these processors allow the 13-inch MacBook Pro to perform up to twice as fast as the previous generation The integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 processor — now included across the MacBook Pro lineup — handles the things you do every day. It encodes video quickly, making HD video calls with FaceTime possible. Hard drive capacities have been increased, with the entry-level model going from 320GB to 500GB, and the higher-end version from 500GB to 750GB. Hard drive speeds remain unchanged, at 5,400 rpm.The new MacBook Pro delivers amazing battery life. And that’s with more powerful processors and faster graphics. So you can expect to surf the web wirelessly for up to 7 hours on a single charge. Advanced chemistry and Adaptive Charging give you up to 1,000 full charge and discharge cycles — nearly three times the lifespan of typical notebook batteries.6 And because the MacBook Pro battery lasts up to five years, MacBook Pro uses just one battery in the same time a typical notebook uses three.

It enables us to do computer works anytime and anywhere, considering internet connections is established. Why not? It is handy, light, and easy to use and it is run by battery. But how does MacBook Pro makes it even great? MacBook Pro has a durable unibody enclosure which is machined from a single piece of aluminum. The entire enclosure is thinner and lighter than other notebooks. It looks polished and refined. And it is durable — perfect for life inside (and outside) your briefcase or backpack. It also has a multi-touch trackpad, it has no button because it is the button. It allows the user to have more room to track and more room to click — left, right, center and everywhere in between. MacBook Pro uses LED backlight technology to make the display instantly bright and allows it to be incredibly thin. They used edge-to-edge glass not just because it looks beautiful, but because it lends structure to the display. And lastly the connections and ports on MacBook Pro are all orderly integrated on the same side of the notebook, so your cables are placed neatly organized and connecting and disconnecting your devices is easy and convenient.

The new inclusions don’t just give the new MacBook an edge over its predecessor, but also over several other laptops that the tech arena has been flooded with over the last year or so. Some of the most amazing features that the new line of MacBook Pro has to offer includes all new Sandy Bridge processors, the Thunderbolt technology, new graphics processor, FaceTime technology etc. With all these features – each of which seems to be more than promising, up its sleeves, the new MacBook Pro line is bound to be better than its predecessor which was last updated in mid 2010.
Difference Between New and Old MacBook Pro 2011

The high-end Intel Core 2 Duo processors in the old MacBook Pro are replaced by Intel’s all new second-generation Core (Sandy Bridge) processors which makes the new Macbook Pro twice as fast as the previous version. In 13 inch models, the Intel Core 2 Duo processor has made way for new i5 and i7 processors. Similarly, the 15 and 17 inch MacBook Pro models come with a Sandy Bridge Intel Core i7 processor, instead of Intel Core i5 processor which was used in the 2010 version.

Along with the new processors, the new MacBook also has new graphics processing unit on board. The NVIDIA GeForce 320M in the 13 inch Mac is replaced by Intel HD Graphics 3000, while the NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M has been replaced by AMD Radeon HD 6490M and AMD Radeon HD 6750M in 15 and 17 inch models respectively. The new graphics unit which came as a part of 2011 MacBook Pro update boasts of being three times better than the previous graphics units.

While all the new models have a RAM of 4 GB on board, the storage capacity of each of these models has been increased. The 13 inch base version now sports a 320GB HDD instead of 250GB HDD, and the higher end version sports a 500GB HDD in place of 320GB HDD. The same has also been seen in 15 inch and 17 inch models – wherein the 320GB HDD storage has been replaced with 500GB HDD storage, and 500GB HDD has been replaced with 750GB HDD.

The new MacBook Pro also comes with two new attractions which everybody missed in the previous version – the Thunderbolt technology and FaceTime HD camera. The Thunderbolt is a connectivity technology which has been developed by Apple in collaboration with Intel. At 10 gigabytes per second, the Thunderbolt is 20 times faster than its predecessor – USB 2.0. In fact, the introduction of this technology in new MacBook Pro model has earned it the title Thunderbolt MacBook Pro. On the other hand, the FaceTime calling that the new model has to offer facilitates 720p high definition video calling as well.

Other than all these differences mentioned in the aforementioned new MacBook Pro and old MacBook Pro 2011 comparison, an all improved battery life of 7 hours, multi-touch track pad, etc. are some noteworthy features that you get to see in the new version. As promising as all these features may seem, all of them do come for some extra dollars. The base version of new 13 inch MacBook Pro is priced at US$1,199, while its 17 inch counterpart comes with a price tag of US$2,499. A mere glimpse of 2011 MacBook Pro specs is enough for you to realize that spending on buying the new MacBook Pro – which according to some tech wizards is an apt replacement for the desktop, is worth it.

There are some very personal aspects for each one of us especially when it comes about Desktop and Wallpaper. To distinguish this workspace, the Blue Planet application for Macintosh turns it into a full view of Planet Earth.

This view also presents shadows and lit areas.

In the same time, it is possible for you to mark your user location, which can be done using Apple Core Location.

You can also take captures of the current view which can be a delightfull operation if you like or need geography.

The newer vesion, Blue Planet 1.1.1, comes with some improvements as manual simulation of dates and times and you can also can choose where the aplication is showed in the Dock or menu bar.

For those who are planning to buy and install this wonderfull application is recommend for you to verify if you meet the needed requirements: Mac OS X 10.6.6 or later, 64-bit.
